Tremonton Homes for Sale and Real Estate

Tremonton is the place to be when you want rural living mixed with shopping and medical needs nearby. Back in 1990, there were only 4300 people, and now the population is near 8000. Tremonton is the home of the Box Elder County Fair which is held at the end of August every year right before each school year begins. During the Box Elder County Fair, is one of the oldest rodeo's in all of Utah, the Golden Spike Rodeo. In 2015 the rodeo celebrated its 90th year.

Every May the Tremonton City Fire Department holds an annual Steak Fry. In July they entertain with Tremonton City Days

Tremonton is a town located in Bear River Valley in northeastern Box Elder County, Utah. Tremonton is 38.8 miles north of Ogden (just under 40 minutes away) and 73.5 miles north of Salt Lake City (or just over an hour away via the I-15). Tremonton is located near the junction of Interstate 15 and Interstate 84.

Adjacent towns to Tremonton include Garland on the north; Elwood on the southeast; and Bothwell and Thatcher to the west. Elwood, Bothwell, and Thatcher all share the same zip code with Tremonton.

History of Tremonton

The first settlers came to Tremonton area in 1888. However, it remained mostly uninhabited until about 1898 when land agents started promoting the Bear River Valley as a place for Midwestern farmers to relocate. That is when small groups from Nebraska and Illinois began to arrive.

The town site of Tremonton was laid out early in Spring of 1903. Tremonton was originally named after the Illinois hometown of one of the German settlers. Tremont, Utah was frequently confused with Fremont, Utah. Therefore, after three or four years the postal authorities requested a name change for the newer town. Adding a simple "on" to the end, the town became Tremonton.

The Holmgren Farmstead is listed on the historical register, (Listed 2001-04-05).

It connects Tremonton with Deweyville, Bothwell, Thatcher, Penrose, and Thiokol’s facility in Box Elder County. State Route 13 runs north/south on the east edge of Tremonton. SR-13 runs over 32 miles parallel with I-15 from Brigham City to Riverside. State Route 82 is a short connector road, running just over 3 miles, connecting Tremonton to Garland.
