WHERE IS BRIGHAM CITY UTAH?
Brigham City is a city located in Box Elder County, Utah just west of the Wellsville Mountains. Both Interstates 84 and 15 pass to the west of the city together. Brigham city is 25.1 miles north of Ogden (just under 30 minutes away) and 59.8 miles north of Salt Lake City (just under an hour away).
Brigham City has a total area of 24.2 square miles. Only 1.40% is water. The zip code for Brigham City is 84302. Perry Utah shares Brigham City's zip code.
William Davis, a mormon pioneer, visited the Brigham City area in 1850. He later returned with his family to make it their permanent home. First being named Box Elder in 1855, the name was changed to Brigham City in 1877 after the church president, Brigham Young.
World War II brought an economic boost to Brigham City. Bushnell General Hospital was created on the south side of Brigham City to treat soldiers wounded in the war.
After the war the hospital buildings were used as the Intermountain Indian School. It was used as a boarding school for Native Americans until 1984.
Most of the buildings have been converted into businesses and condos. Utah State University purchased the site and demolished the remaining buildings to build permanent buildings for the Utah State University Brigham City regional campus.
